Camera Settings: Aperture Priority, ISO 1250, 1/640 sec, f/11, 0 EV, center weighted average metering
Lighting Conditions: Morning around 9:45 AM local time, blue sky, light clouds, sun
Where and When: Amsterdam Centrum. This image was taken at the departure city for the Norway Viking Cruise in February 2025. We had some time before sailing and used it to take the bus to Amsterdam Centrum for a walkabout.
Post-Processing: In Lightroom: enabled lens profile, remove chromatic aberration, straightened & cropped using LR Transform tool.
Used the LR Sky filter to adjust the sky (exposure -1.29, highlights +11, shadows +16, whites +24 blacks +19 and the temperature to -25.
Used another filter to select only the building with the following adjustments exposure +0.16, contrast +25, highlights +21, shadows +13, whites +18. Blacks -33.
Final adjustments were adjusted blacks (-7), whites (-15), shadows (+9), highlights (-31); then adjusted clarity (+6), dehaze (+7), vibrance (+8) and saturation (0). No editing in photoshop on this image.

This is a nice travel photo and I really like the woman with the turquoise bag walking towards the building. If we could wave a magic wand, ideally, some of the other people wouldn't be there. In particular, the other gentleman with the turquoise suitcase who detracts a little bit from the woman I like so much. The sky may be a touch on the purple side.   Posted: 03/15/2026 00:58:50
