About the Image(s)
The Tai Chi, Liangyi and Bagua diagram on Tengwang Pavilion Square. The concept that "Tai Chi generates Liangyi, Liangyi generates Four Symbols, and Four Symbols generate Bagua" is an important idea in Chinese philosophy, describing the formation and evolution of the universe.
Tai Chi represents the primordial state of the universe, an undifferentiated chaos.
Liangyi refers to Yin and Yang, symbolizing the unity of opposites in the universe.
The Four Symbols are four fundamental states derived from Liangyi: Shaoyang (Young Yang), Taiyang (Greater Yang), Shaoyin (Young Yin), and Taiyin (Greater Yin).
Bagua, further evolved from the Four Symbols, represents eight basic natural phenomena and their transformations.
