Lugano Castle by Shirley Bormann, APSA, EPSA

May 2024 - Lugano Castle

About the Image(s)

A photo taken many years ago with my Canon EOS 7D at f/8 ISO 200 at 1/250 second on Lake Lugano in Italy.
It was a bit dark so I did some Lightroom adjustments and used Topaz adjust AI on it.

Shirley, I'm sorry that I missed this castle on Lake Lugano. It is a very interesting and colorful building, particularly the tower with the spiral walkway. Nice color balance, lighting, and sharpness. I'm glad the vineyard in the background was included, as it also tells something of the area where it is located. I wonder if it is currently occupied as a private home?   Posted: 05/11/2024 09:26:54

Lake Lugano is a beautiful lake that runs from Italy into Switzerland. This castle I learned is named "Cattaneo Castle" and is in the town of Paradiso, Switzerland. It sold in 2010 to a wealthy Dane for 20 ml francs. The entire area is just beautiful.

What an interesting building that makes me want to know more about it. Thanks for the information in your response to Michael's questions. I'm sorry I haven't explored Italy more that the main attractions. I like the photo as it is and have no suggestions. The foreground and background are just right.   Posted: 05/14/2024 22:35:16

I attended a conference in Lugano a few decades ago. I agree that the entire area is just beautiful. The architecture of the castle here is wonderful, and the brick tones are complemented nicely by the flowers in the foreground and set off against the greens of the vineyard in the background.   Posted: 05/19/2024 09:52:29
