About the Image(s)
I took the photo with an Olympus EM5 Mark II with 12-100 lens at equivalent 50mm. SS was 1/800, ISO 200 and aperture f 10. This is certainly well known in CA and among some photographers, but do you think it would go as a travel image? Some reviews show people found it creepy, I wandered around without any issues. We also drove to Slab City which is nearby. These places are near Salton Sea in southern CA.

This is a very unusual image so think it should be considered PT even if many people have not seen it. It is very colorful with good composition. I like the few people in the image who project the scale of the structure. The only nit I have is the partial bucket but I can see that trying to remove that may remove the other objects also.... Nicely done..   Posted: 09/05/2024 15:54:20

Judy, I consider this a travel image, although someplace that I probably wouldn't be inclined to visit unless I happened to come upon it. It certainly is colorful, with an interesting sky, and nicely photographed, but like Shirley, I would have cropped out the bucket in the foreground. I'm glad that you had people in the image, as the scale would have been difficult to determine without them.   Posted: 09/13/2024 09:41:09

Michael, I heard about it from another photographer and since we go to CA pretty often, I wanted to see it. Plus, I have a reputation for photographing anything "junk" related.   Posted: 09/23/2024 15:14:18

I agree that the people add a sense of scale and that the bucket can be cropped out. I consider it kitschy, but well photographed; people differ in their sense of taste, and it certainly is a travel image.   Posted: 09/17/2024 02:11:03

All, I agree about the bucket and will crop that out or maybe crop the entire lower part. For PID, I would clone them out. I should have paid more attention and that is why this group is helpful.   Posted: 09/23/2024 15:16:12

Judy, I am curious about when you took this and how long Salvation Mountain has been there. Some years ago, I was with a photography workshop and we did the Saltan Sea and other places in southern CA. but we did not see this!
It's fun to see your photo! I suggest croping the bottom of the image.   Posted: 09/21/2024 19:50:25

https://salvationmountain.us/ There is lots of information on the Internet about the area. It is near the south-east end of the Salton Sea. I took the picture in April 2019 on the way to LA.   Posted: 09/23/2024 15:20:53

This is certainly PT for me, it looks quite unique! Well photographed - like some other group members I too find the foreground a bit messy.   Posted: 09/23/2024 06:18:14
