Borobudur volcano by Michael Smith

October 2024 - Borobudur volcano

About the Image(s)

The photo was taken atop Borobudur Temple in Central Java early in the morning.. As I stated when I submitted the photo of the temple in July, we weren’t allowed to take professional cameras up on the temple. This photo was shot with my Iphone15 Pro Max, 48mm, f1.78, 1/3257s, ISO 64. The volcano in the background is Merapi, at 9500ft and one of the most active volcanoes in the world. I wanted to capture some of the detail of the temple and still show some of the surrounding location.

Another very successful iPhone photo! This is an appealing image not only of all the detail in the foreground but also the lovely volcano in the background. No suggestions. I think this will do well in competition as is. Good job.   Posted: 10/16/2024 22:26:11

A classic travel photograph that illustrates everything about Indonesia. The distant volcano - and the wisps of clouds just below the summit give so much depth to your composition that is dominated by Borobudur, and the fantastic detail shown in your photograph - a fine effort Michael!   Posted: 10/20/2024 15:49:56

Great image of the volcano and the temple. The detail shown is only as an Iphone can.   Posted: 10/21/2024 14:21:41

Amazing detail for a phone image, and a great composition. I might have cropped a little from the left, but it's a great image in any case. The viewer's eyes are held in place between the foreground structures and the volcano in the background.   Posted: 10/24/2024 05:32:01

David, this is a fantastic image. We had our "big" cameras with us but the mountain in the background wasn't nearly as clear then. As David said the wispy clouds add alot of depth to the photo and you have enough of the foreground which adds so much depth to the image. Great composition. A winner for sure!   Posted: 10/26/2024 16:14:20

Michael, this is a very nice image and the foreground is very interesting. I like Sukumar's crop since only part of the structure is shown. The sky is lovely and adds a lot to the image. We have to be thankful for phones these days.   Posted: 10/26/2024 19:17:53
