About the Image(s)

I took this somewhere along Route 66, probably in AZ. I used a Nikon D300 with a 18-270 Tamron lens at = 37mm. SS was 1/500, ISO 250 and aperture f 11. I love old stuff so this caught my eye. It is a bit busy, but that is the way things are on this old, famous route. I think it is PT, but who knows what judges would think?

This brings back good memories of Route 66! At first glance I thought, "too busy," but I quickly realized that this is how it is in many places along 66! I'm wondered if the great old car is too much in the middle but, in a way, it the main subject and works. I think this is travel and after some thoughts as expressed above, I really like this image. It is very sharp and the colors are just right. Submit it!   Posted: 10/16/2024 22:10:45

Thanks, Esther. I need new images to submit so it is nice to get comments first. Yes, Route 66 has some areas that are full of "stuff" that make it hard to isolate things.   Posted: 10/26/2024 19:19:40

Judy, Great photo. Yes, it is busy, but that is what makes this picture, all the "stuff" in the background. I don't know how you could have shot this by relocating the car in the frame, without leaving out some of the interesting "stuff". This is definitely photo travel. Wonderful texture and color.   Posted: 10/19/2024 14:02:00

I just didn't have enough energy to move the car:-). It was mostly a grab shot. I should follow David's example, but don't have the discipline.   Posted: 10/26/2024 19:21:29

Your image simply oozes Route66! I can hear Chuck Berry`s music in my head as I look at your submission. As ever your image is sharp and well exposed, in my opinion this photograph falls into both PT and PJ categories!   Posted: 10/20/2024 15:21:51

Definitely PT, showing a sense of place. With 300 miles of desert to go, I like the humor of the "self-service station" at right! I think you could add just a bit more brightness and contrast.   Posted: 10/24/2024 05:53:27

Judy, I love this image and yes, it might have been nice to have the car moved off center but we can't always do that. I suppose you could have moved somewhat to get a different view of it but then all the great background "stuff" would be lost. Certainly it is a PT image. Nice job.   Posted: 10/26/2024 15:40:26

I hope we can re-visit parts of Route 66 again as there is so much of interest in all the areas we have seen. We have been home too much this year!   Posted: 10/26/2024 19:22:56
