About the Image(s)

I'm not a protrait photographer, but here I photographed the interaction between one of the members of our group and an old Nepali woman in Darchula, western Nepal. Vivo V23e 5G @52 mm, f/1.8, 1/50 sec. ISO: 628.

I like the contrast in the dress the women are wearing. The woman on the right has a nice expression showing she is interested in what is being said and shared. I am not a portrait person either, but this is a very nice people picture.   Posted: 03/19/2025 15:23:10

This IS a good people picture! I love the way the Nepali woman is sitting as well as her dress and mannerisms. The contrast between the native and the tourist is good and looks natural and not staged. The background works too. Well done, Sukumar!   Posted: 03/21/2025 19:16:11

I agree that your photo of the two women is nicely done and that they are both interested in what each other is saying with the tourist's camera down... These are also two lovely women. I do not think this image would be considered Photo Travel though because other than the Nepalise woman in her lovely dress etc, I am afraid there is nothing that shows a sense of place. The plastic buckets etc can be found anywhere. But a lovely job, Sukumar.   Posted: 03/24/2025 11:01:23

A fine image that records the interraction when groups of travel photographers stop at a location, something I always try to do. I usually find the local folk relax - the bonus is sometimes an outstanding portrait or such. Did you take the Nepalese ladies` portrait Sukumar?   Posted: 03/25/2025 06:23:07

Sukumar, it may not be true Photo Travel, but I really like your photograph. It would work well in Photo Journalism. Despite the fact that some would not consider it for PTD, to me, this is one of the prime reasons that I travel. Getting to meet and interact with local people is as important as the location that we are capturing. Well done!
