March 2025 - Tower Bridge, London
About the Image(s)
A classic landmark of the river Thames immediately adjacent to the Tower of London itself. I was struck by some of the paintwork being in red that compliments the dominant blue of the iron work structure, and using my 17mm. wide angle lens creates some exiting lines within the composition.

Nice, unconventional view of an iconic structure. Did you have to do any HDR or post-processing lighting adjustment? I ask since the underside of the bridge is surprisingly well exposed. The colour contrast (blue, red, white and grey) forms an attractive tableaux, and the suspension cable provides a good leading line up to the tower.   Posted: 03/18/2025 02:38:57
Hi Sukumar, my procedure for image capture is to have my camera set on spot meter - to expose for the highlights, and then take full advantage of digital technology to use levels and shadows/highlights in photoshop.
I hope this explains how the clouds are not burnt out whilst showing detail of the underside of the bridge, something impossible to achieve using film cameras! Who said digital photography would never catch on - 20 odd years ago?   Posted: 03/18/2025 06:47:35

David, I like your view though many may think it should be straightened, I like it the way it is. The colors are nice and help make the picture. The turquois and blue form leading lines. The sky is the icing on the cake. Well done.   Posted: 03/19/2025 15:18:20
Your view of this famous landmark is original and like it! We see the same views over and over. I do admit that I would like to see this with the "building" straightened and the rest of the photo as above. Would this work? If not, this is a wonderful, sharp image as is. The image is technically perfect!   Posted: 03/21/2025 19:40:11
David, very unique image of the Tower Bridge. The colors are beautiful. Appreciate your explaining how the spot meter does alot! I would love to see it straightened too but don't think you could get a pic like that straightened.
My apologies for not getting an image in this month. We committed to putting on a travelogue of our Romania and Lower Danube River cruise for our community in a week and have been furiously working on it, obviously forgetting other commitments.
Sorry about that!   Posted: 03/24/2025 10:44:25

I agree with the group, this is a very interesting perspective of this bridge. A very detailed and sharp image, beautifully done. I understand that the tower isn't straight, but I wonder if it would distort the span if it was straightened. Haven't been to London for awhile. Time to plan a visit.
