January 2026 - Korean Friendship Bell
About the Image(s)
We found this when visiting our son in CA. I used an Olympus EM5 and 12-50mm lens at =26mm. SS was 1/500, ISO 250 and aperture was f 8. I wonder if this can be considered travel. Yes, I know it all depends on the judges:-).

Not everyone lives in CA, so it's travel to me. I love the symmetry and the colors. Very nice shot. Perhaps some sky could be cropped?   Posted: 01/07/2026 11:02:59
Certainly it is travel to me. I'm not sure that I agree with Leslie, about cropping the sky, as it would crop out much of the blue and it is needed as a contrast. Nicely composed and lighting is very nice. I really like this image!   Posted: 01/12/2026 09:33:05
I agree entirely with Michael - it is most certainly PT as it displays a culture and - as Leslie points out, you have composed this image in a very pleasing manner. As ever your photograph is tack sharp, and so pleasing on the eye.   Posted: 01/20/2026 15:48:18
Judy, I too would consider this travel; I wondered how you could have got such nice blue skies because I just recently came across my pictures from S.Korea and the clouds the few days we were there were not good. This is a beautiful, sharp, colorful image and displays a culture, even if it

Lovely image! The image is tilted ever so slightly down to the left. For such a symmetric composition, it matters. Definitely a travel image; most of us don't encounter a two ton bell before breakfast. Before I read your description, I assumed this was shot in the far east. If I may be allowed to make a quasi-political point, the fact that it is in California makes it doubly special to me, as it brings out the composite, immigrant culture of the United States.   Posted: 01/29/2026 12:08:53
