As part of my recent OAT trip to Africa, we visited the Ngamo Village just outside of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. As part of that visit, the residents of the Ngamo Village, prepared lunch for the elders and our group. I was very impressed with the lunch prepared over an open fire, which is the normal location and method of food preparation for the village. I think that a very important part of travel is the opportunity to interact with the local people in their environment and I wanted to capture it. Meeting local people is one of the highlights of my travels. One of the village “chiefs” is a lady who claims that her section of the village, is much better managed than the sections overseen by men. Unusual in the African culture.
