February 2026 - Elegant Mongolian

About the Image(s)

This was created in Ulaanbaatar the capital of Mongolia a few years ago. It was the day after we arrived which was a holiday and the people were wearing elegant outfits with the typical boots a la Genghis Khan. The coat is usually made of silk and it is completely covered in sheep skin inside. It was March and the temperature was in the freezing scale. This gentleman was sitting at the bus stop, probably already loaded with vodka which is the national liquors since Russia was in control of the country from 1921 till 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed, but never became part of the Soviet Union because the blockage set by China, but never the less, the Mongolians adopted the Cyrillic Alphabet.
I used a Nikon D5 with the Nikkor zoom lens 28-300mm @ 62 mm and these settings: ISO 400, f/8 and 1/2500 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped.

Your description tells a story and adds interest to your image. By putting in what I assume is an advertisement likely sees the image in a foreign country and eligible for the new PTDD Star path. I agree with your analysis.   Posted: 02/01/2026 15:24:31
