About the Image(s)

This shrine is famous for the Path of Thousand Torii Gates. Each gate is a donation for an individual or business seeking prosperity and good fortune. We were there at the peak fall color season, so the paths in the garden were mobbed, shoulder to shoulder tourists. What too do? Shoot over their heads.

I visited that shrine also and, as your image shows, it was always crowded with people in the narrow passageway. Unfortunately, you can't do much about the tourists, but arrangement of the shrine is a good leading line. Color is crisp. Your shot over the heads of the tourists however, doesn't produce as good an angle as your image, and your image with the tourists is better.   Posted: 03/01/2026 19:23:46

Tom, I was there many years ago, and we were lucky that the area was not as infected (invaded) by the tourist, so I was able to create images from different vantage points that should be uploaded by Ed soon.   Posted: 03/04/2026 13:55:53

Tom, Thanks for sharing the wonderful shrine, which brought back the memories. I actually waited to shoot the people walking by.   Posted: 03/06/2026 16:30:51

Tom, as you opted over the heads compositions with no choice, still I liked it. the image is sharp & symmetric, with perfect perspective. Looks different. Looks good.   Posted: 03/12/2026 08:47:02
