About the Image(s)
Nikon Camera: D300s, Lens: Nikkor 18-105mm

Lighting conditions: Cloudy
Post-processing steps/software used: Lightroom

This image was taken on a walking tour of London so my camera was handheld. There were no activities going on in the parade grounds except sightseeing on this day but one could imagine the pageantry that could take place there.

The contrasting green copper roofs and the red awnings make this picture. The composition is very static. Would it have been possible to create a more diagonal composition with receding lines by standing closer to the building and closer the end? Similar to David Somali-Chow's picture of the Potala.   Posted: 01/06/2025 17:07:42

Here is another photo angle as I walking across the parade grounds in London. I didn't select this photo for this month because I felt the building were too far away. But it is not as static and the original.   Posted: 01/07/2025 18:01:47

I like that you took the photo with no people in the red stands. You caught a flock of birds as well. I might crop a bit from the left and the top.   Posted: 01/06/2025 19:49:15

The hardest thing when you see a beautiful seem like this is to find a perspective that is a bit different from everyone else else's. As Tom says, changing the perspective is one way of doing that. If you used your second one, you could do some cropping and not include the entire building And still get that perspective. Another thing to make a difference would be to photograph it earlier late in the day so the lighting can make more of a difference in having it stand out. I do very much like the red and green colors. That line of red is very cool. I wonder if you could also crop a little from the top of the sky…   Posted: 01/11/2025 11:44:00

The sky looks interesting. However, if you are saying parade ground then you should have more of parade ground in the image rather than sky. You will definitely need some kind of prop in the parade ground to make it look interesting though. Nice work.   Posted: 01/14/2025 21:37:17

I agree. I wish there was something in the foreground.   Posted: 01/28/2025 16:14:57

I like the clouds in the sky warning of impending weather changes. I would not crop from the sky or else you would not leave enough room for the tops of the buildings. I might crop a little off the bottom. Too bad you were not there during an actual parade.   Posted: 01/23/2025 15:02:36

I agree. It would have been incredible to be there for a parade. I like the sky, too.   Posted: 01/28/2025 16:16:01

I like the second picture and did some cropping and slight adjustments.
I hope you like it.   Posted: 01/23/2025 23:50:35
