Great picture, but I find the black blob in the foreground distracting. Clearly, you wanted the stupa in the foreground to give the image depth, but it is a little too domineering. Incidentally, you asked in the last round if I had seen the dancing trees of Sumba. Unfortunately not. Should go back.   Posted: 01/06/2025 17:12:08

I agree that the Black blob is distracting. I purposely left it as I took the picture around 14 years ago. I can remember being in a problematic situation. If I wanted to include the stupa, I had no choice but to include the black blob in the picture due to the limited space on the stairway across the street where I could stand.

I enclosed the cropped version that might help the image.

Okay. I will share the image of my dancing trees that I took in Sumba. Due to the uniqueness of the trees in that region, I think it should qualify for Photo travel.   Posted: 01/06/2025 17:36:14

Of course if it wasn't for photo travel editing rules, today you could easily remove the black blob. I played with a crop from the left but didn't like it. Unfortunately with judges today looking for great composition/artistry they would mark it down due to the blob.

But what an experience to see this masterpiece! There's a story and a memory here that is priceless.   Posted: 01/06/2025 20:00:03

Thank you. Yes, taking that image was a priceless memory. I was nervous because it was late at night in a country I was unfamiliar with.

Sorry, I missed typing the speed; it should be 30.0 seconds.   Posted: 01/07/2025 00:46:46

Such an impressive building that is set in the side of a mountain. I like that you took the photo at night because it is so much more dramatic. I think cropping out the black blob is an improvement.   Posted: 01/07/2025 18:05:36

Beautiful picture and taking it from that perspective is great. Yes the blob is a problem, but it's a shame to crop so much out of that picture like you did with your second with the second one. How about an in between like this one? It's still maintains that great perspective of the surrounding context, but it reduces the distraction of the black blob.   Posted: 01/11/2025 11:51:47

Overall a nice image. Well composed and yes the blob in the front is little distracting. However for my taste the street lights seems to be a little over exposed, not sure how to handle in Lightroom. One idea maybe crop out everything and just keep the palace .That will be a nice image too.   Posted: 01/14/2025 21:23:55

Thank you for your recommendation. This image was taken 14 years ago with a less superior sensor, and I try not to edit too much in the Photo Travel category.   Posted: 01/24/2025 01:18:38

A nice image except for the black blob and I think Laurie has done a nice crop to minimize its distraction. The bright lights from the street lights are a problem and I am not sure how to minimize their effect.   Posted: 01/23/2025 15:08:49

Thank you. For the PT category, restricted editing, especially the bright lights, will be challenging to fix.   Posted: 01/24/2025 01:24:56
