The building was designed by Canadian American Architect Frank Gehry. It was inaugurated in 1997. The unusual style was only made possible by the fact that in the last thirty years or so architecture has embraced 3D design software originally developed to build airplanes. This made it possible to design curved surfaces and calculate stresses and loads in non-traditional structures. Apart from that, however, Gehry’s imagination and the use of titanium as structural as well as exterior cladding material created a building that to me seems like a gigantic sculpture. I found it awe-inspiring, and it is a boon to photographers in any light. I chose to convert my original image to black&white to emphasize the graphical aspect of the building.

Tom, good vantage point, and good B&W interpretation of the structure. I just wonder what is that white thing on top of the roof at the right (my right) of the frame. The details on the titanium elements. Great sky.   Posted: 01/06/2025 16:42:44

This is such an amazing architectural sight. The inside is also quite intriguing. In 2018 I stayed at the hotel across the street so there were numerous views from my room and a rooftop area. I never thought to convert to B&W so now I'm going to go back and try that. I had a hard time with some of the shiny spots from the sun being blown out. You have managed to not have that problem. Nice job and great location to shoot from!

It truly looks like a giant sculpture. I like your camera angle and cropping which accentuates the architectural lines and shapes. It's not symmetry but has the same feeling, to me. I also like that you have converted to black and white. Very good decision.   Posted: 01/07/2025 18:14:06

Hi Tom - I think this is a striking and beautiful image. I wouldn't change a thing. The leading lines right to the middle are great. The black and white conversion absolutely makes it!   Posted: 01/11/2025 11:53:34

An unusual shaped structure. I keep looking around for an entrance or how you get in the building. It definitely qualifies for the architecture category. You have done an excellent of handling the lighting.   Posted: 01/23/2025 15:17:33
