Why I took this image:
On Carolyn's and my trip to Hawaii in December 2023 we spent the first four days in Oahu and then we went over to Kauai. I had been to Oahu and the Big Island, but feel that Kauai is more representative of the more historical Hawaii and more scenic.
Camera Settings:
Creation Date: 12/12/2023
Camera: Canon, Camera Model: Canon EOS R6,
Shutter Speed: 1/1000, Aperture: f/9, ISO 640, Canon 24 – 105 f4.0 lens @24 mm.
Post processing:
I wanted to get several shots of this beautiful canyon. Carolyn and I put together a calendar of our images for the year and this is the one she picked for the cover image so at least she must like it. I took the image into LR and increased the vibrance. I then used Nik to bring out a
bit more detail and then used Topaz Photo AI for sharpening and noise reduction.

Definitely an amazingly picturesque landscape, with these interlocking hills receding into the distance. My nit would be that it looks like the horizon is not horizontal. Even if the terrain is actually rising to the right, it still would improve the image if it were horizontal, IMHO.   Posted: 01/06/2025 17:18:17

I like how you increased the vibrance, the printed photo is a bit flat in comparison. The terrain did rise to the right and I agree with Tom. Making it level improves the image.   Posted: 01/06/2025 20:14:59

I think you should submit this to a photo travel exhibition and see what happens.   Posted: 01/23/2025 15:32:05

Nice capture. I like how you were able to bring out the various colors of the hills in the background. It is set off nicely by the barious brown hues in the foreground. The only suggestion I would have is to somehow crop the grasses in the front left.   Posted: 01/07/2025 18:17:25

Beautiful picture! I love the lines that converge in the middle. Besides straightening the image, I think I would decrease the brightness of the sky. To me that really takes away from the rest of the picture.   Posted: 01/11/2025 11:54:47

I am from a different group, but I wanted to comment on how much I love your beautiful canyon scene. It looks a bit like a painting, with interesting colors and textures.   Posted: 01/13/2025 09:31:46

Nice photo. The color tones are excellent but he seems to me that the horizontal needs some work.   Posted: 01/14/2025 21:18:25

It's a beautiful canyon scene with astonishing colors and textures. I would like to know why you set the shutter speed at 1/1000?   Posted: 01/24/2025 00:29:48
