John and I visited mid-coast Maine last year during the off-season. We stayed in Rockport and each day found a different coastal village to explore. This photo was taken in Friendship Maine. It is a fishing shack that is closed for the season, with the lobster buoys and traps all on the dock. The original color shows the buoys, all black and yellow. The single colored buoys represent one licensee who most likely owns the property. It’s known in the area as a result. My question to you is does the photo suggest Maine or at least New England or the Northeast US? Or is it too generic? Which photo works best in your opinion for photo travel, the color or the B&W? Thanks in advance for your opinion.

I like the diagonal composition. The eye is drawn to the bright side of the building on the left, but I don't think cropping it out is a great option. The reflections of the pier posts are great. The color version seems more interesting to me because of the yellow buoys and the red spot in the back. In that version, the bright side of the building is balanced by the colorful right side so the eye is less drawn to it   Posted: 09/15/2025 14:06:04

Like the composition. The gritty Black and White style adds to the dilapidated and depressing nature of the structures. So I think B&W works great. Great Work.   Posted: 09/16/2025 09:37:05
