Arch of Hadrian by Phyllis Peterson

March 2026 - Arch of Hadrian

About the Image(s)

The photo of Hadrian's Arch was taken in May, 2025 after. our trip through Egypt.
The Arch of Hadrian in Jerash, Jordan was built in Roman Architectural Style. It was erected to honor the visit of Roman Emperor Hadrian to the city of Jerash,
Jordan in 129 AD. I noticed that there is also a Hadrian's Arch in Greece, also.

I had bright light on the day I photographed the Arch. Luckily, I had a wide angle lens with me because
the surroundings did not add to the shot.

I think for a bright day you did well, because the arch is a nice contrast with the blue sky. I am amazed you were able to get this photo without a whole lot of tourists in the way.

Nice job.   Posted: 03/05/2026 13:47:26

Nice Shot. Beautiful Photo.

Here is the Greek one. Our "traveling emperor," commissioned arches throughout the Roman Empire, these arches were political tools. They marked territory, celebrated his building projects, and reinforced his identity as a benefactor and "new founder" of cities, especially Athens.   Posted: 03/06/2026 19:30:33
