Generosity by Gloria Grandolini

February 2025 - Generosity

About the Image(s)

This is a photo of a communal free lunch
at the Sikh temple Gurudwara Bangla Sahib
In Dehli. I was in India in November,
and it is really hard to show images that we have not all seen
many times. In this historic Sikh house of
Worship they serve over 30,000 free meals a day,
and 60,000 on Sundays. They can accommodate 800/900
people at a time. I was lucky to visit at the
time one of these meals was prepared and served.
This image to me is the epitome of
Sikh generosity. In this community kitchen,
meals are served free of charge, regardless of
religion, caste, gender, economic status,
or ethnicity. I tried to convey this diversity and generosity
through this image.

Shot taken with Canon R5 handheld
1/10 sec at f/11 ISO 800
24 mm (RF 24-70 f/2.8 L II USM lens)

Minimal editing - exposure and blacks and whites.

That is a very beautiful story.

In Lightroom you will find under Develop a tab for Transform. You can hit auto and it will align the verticl and horizontal elements.

Well done!   Posted: 02/01/2025 08:41:07

I love this photo and you did catch a unique glimpse of the culture. It's the leading lines of the people and trays moving to the uniquely shaped windows that I like best.   Posted: 02/03/2025 09:58:38
