Ophir Pass by Leslie Larson

November 2025 - Ophir Pass

About the Image(s)

I'm not done with fall colors. This is Ophir Pass. The quick and dirty way from Telluride to Silverton, CO. It's a 4WD road of 10 miles and nearly 2000' elevation gain. A shortcut for the adventurous.
Taken with a Canon 77D, f/13, 1/250, ISO 400, 45mm

What story are you trying to tell with this image? What do you want to make the viewer feel? The image is technically well executed with the exception of the distracting wires in the lower left of the image. It looks like a lovely place to visit and a very good memory.   Posted: 11/13/2025 23:46:15

The story is just the awesome scenery. In late fall people from all over the world come to Colorado to view the changing colors. I want the viewer to be struck by the magnificence of the Rocky Mountains.
Personally, I haven't found most of the travel photos have compelling stories other than the uniqueness of the place.
I could have removed the wires, I thought about it, but decided to leave them because if someone goes there, that is exactly what they will see.   Posted: 11/14/2025 09:30:34
