Jefferson Memorial by Richard Distlerath

May 2026 - Jefferson Memorial

About the Image(s)

This image was taken about 10 minutes before sunrise from the tidal basin toward the Jefferson Memorial on 3/28/26. It was quite cold that morning which seeemd to enhance visibility. My OM1 Mark2 was equiped with a standard lens 12-40mm f2.8 II at 38 mm and 1/100 sec, f3.2 and iso 320. The camera was hand held. I used the focus stacking computational mode set at the widest differential for the stack which was processed in OM workspace. It was so windy that I was unable to frame the memorial with cherry blossoms so I chose just one branch. Image was imported into LR and PS to develop the colors.

Richard, I like the composition. The one branch is symbolic and also the flowers' colors match the sky. The monument is sharp. Good job - it is not easy to take photos of sites that have been photographed a million times. This one has some freshness to my eyes.   Posted: 05/17/2026 21:03:08
