January 2025 - Vietnamese Market Vendor
About the Image(s)
Traveling in Vietnam, we saw several outdoor markets. This vegetable vendor most likely bicycled from the country where her crops are grown. Her position on the ground was typical of many vendors, along with their goods for sale.

This really evokes the market in a small town. Her face speaks of years of toil and care in raising the produce she offers for sale. A suggestion would be to try a crop of the left side cutting out the trash bag and water bottle to focus on her and the greens she is selling.   Posted: 01/14/2025 11:51:42

This is a great subject, and the focus on her and her greens is excellent. It is interesting that she is sitting on the ground. You must have come down to take the photo, which is great because you can see the woman is proud of her stand.
Learning from Majdi this month, who seems to be the expert at people-photos, whether blurring the busy background might be effective? (I am learning here too.) Cutting left (the water bottle) and right (half of the red bag) might be worth trying. Cutting too much and you don't see her product, which would take away from the main content.   Posted: 01/14/2025 14:33:10

Allowed editing techniques:
• Cropping, straightening and perspective correction.
• Removal or correction of elements added by the camera or lens, such as dust spots, noise, chromatic aberration and lens distortion.
• Global and selective adjustments such as brightness, hue, saturation and contrast to restore the appearance of the original scene.
• Complete conversion of color images to grayscale monochrome.
• Blending of multiple images of the same subject and combining them in camera or with software (exposure blending or focus stacking)
• Image stitching - combining multiple images with overlapping fields of view that are taken consecutively (panoramas)
Editing techniques that are not allowed:
• Removing, adding to, moving or changing any part of an image, except for cropping and straightening.
• Adding a vignette during processing.
• Blurring parts of the image during processing to hide elements in the original scene.
• Darkening parts of the image during processing to hide elements in the original scene.
• All conversions other than to complete grayscale monochrome.
• Conversion of parts of an image to monochrome, or partial toning, desaturation or over-saturation of color

I love the expression on this lady's face. In these SE Asian market situations there are always going to be messy backgrounds. I like it the way it is...a true representation. Good color, focus, and depth of field.   Posted: 01/15/2025 14:10:18
