About the Image(s)
Located along the eastern coastline of Gangneung, South Korea, the Hand of Harmony is a striking coastal sculpture rising directly from the sea. Designed as a symbol of hope, peace, and harmony between humanity and nature, the massive hand appears partially submerged depending on the tide, reinforcing its connection to the ocean and the surrounding landscape.
The sculpture is positioned near the shoreline with a pedestrian pier nearby, making it a quiet yet powerful landmark that interacts continuously with changing weather, light, and sea conditions. Its dramatic presence is often heightened by overcast skies and rough waves, which give the scene a timeless and contemplative atmosphere.
This photograph was captured during my trip to South Korea in 2016, under cloudy skies and active sea conditions. The image reflects the raw relationship between man-made art and the natural elements that surround it.

It is a smart thing that you mention right off that this is a Hand of Harmony sculpture, because it looks a little too perfect, and people can think it is photo-shopped - a friend of mine did. Once you realize it is not, it appears to me to be a contender for award-winning. Think of a good title to go with it!   Posted: 01/12/2026 14:21:21
