About the Image(s)

This month I will show another 4 older photos I shot back in march 2018 during another trek in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta visiting the pueblo Mulkupkungui only reachable after a longer walk through the forrest and mountains, land of Kogi, Arhuaco, Kankuamo and Viva. I stayed 2 nights in the Kogi village. At that time I was still using my Fuji XT2 camera. Like the photos from the previous month these photos come with a lot of personal emotional feelings and I am not sure if this can be transmitted without the story behind. The village is located in an absolut remote area without roads with a splendid nature. Feel free to leave me any comments about what you think and maybe suggestions. I also use the opportunity to ask the members of my group to sent me photos to add for this upcoming November.

I enjoy this pic of the child. Nicely composed, and there's no clutter to distract. Simple and well done composition.   Posted: 11/13/2024 07:51:19

Christian, very interesting collection of images of people and a region we probably would not have seen otherwise. This brings me back memories of a visit to The Sinamaica lagoon mostly inhabited by the Venezuelan Añú and Wayú ethnic groups and the access is only via water. I will post next month in Group 5. In your main image of the kid, there is an out of focus boot in the background which keeps bringing my eyes to it, but there is nothing you can do about. Sometimes we are so engaged in getting a subject that we miss distracting things within the frame. Anyway; it is a great B&W image.   Posted: 11/14/2024 08:45:34

Thank you Isaac, that region in Venezuela has always been on my Wishlist but due the security problems in Venezuela I never made it there. This year I was again to La Guajira where the Wayuu are living but due a security problem we cancelled a part of the trip and made it only to Riohacha. For me to boot in the background of the kid makes the photo even more interesting and authentic. Than you for your comments.   Posted: 11/14/2024 09:47:53

Nicely caught image. The child has that enigmatic look of innocence that I would think is universal with children of that age, who might be placed in a similar situation. As such it is a nice story of similarities. From a pictorial standpoint, I like the way that the roads act as leading lines pointing to the child. T also think that the image would be even stronger if the left side of the image was cropped about halfway between the tree on the far left and the blurry tree on the left. But, that's only my subjective opinion.   Posted: 11/14/2024 21:59:06
