On the road to the Kogi village Sarachui, Cesar department, Colombia, in September 2025, I met this Kogi family in the mountains. GFX100s, GF55, ISO 400, f9.0; 1/320 sec.

Good HI image and your conversion to monochrome adds to the interest and mystique. Although they are looking at the camera and it could be intgerpreted as posed, IMV, it was just the way they were standing ina group, inquisitively looking at you photographing them. Apparently you created the image up close, as the girl at the far right is somewhat underexposed, although at f9 you probably expected better depth of field. Regardless, its an interesting image that IMV, would be a good HI image in PJD, however, given most judges prejudices as to what aPJD image ought to be, well... Posted: 12/01/2025 04:29:57
Yes, as I have sad before, I have no good experience with such photos in PJD. I was walking up the mountains, having the lens on f9 for some landscape when I met this group, a family and indeed I was close to them when I took the shot. The woman on the right was a bit in the shadow looking at my Colombian friend with whom I was on the trek. I find it interesting that the child in the middle is starring at me. Nothing posed, capture of the moment. Walking 3 hours up the mountain, drunk my 3 litters of water and was hoping to arrive soon the village. Posted: 12/01/2025 09:35:11
Nice image I get a strong sense of place,time and culture. I like the multi-generational presence. Everyone has natural body language and candid expressions. I think the eye contact from the child creates an immediate emotional connection...like that a lot! Great use Of environmental framing and the monochrome treatment adds to the timelessness. Great skin texture and light direction. My only concern is some of the bright whites in the clothing may compete with facial detail or have a adverse effect in projection...great image!
