About the Image(s)

Tierra Grata, César, Colombia, September 10th 2025. Tierra Grata is situated between the towns of La Paz and Manaure Balcón del Cesar in the Department of Cesar, Colombia, near the border of Venezuela. This area was established in 2016 as part of the peace agreement. The transitional zones, known as ETCRs, were created to provide accommodation, training, and security for former guerrillas as they transitioned into civilian life. Currently, 168 former members of the FARC-EP, specifically from fronts 19 and 41 of the Martín Caballero bloc, are living in this location peacefully with their families. An unpaved road leads from La Paz into the mountains to this unique site. Fuji GFX100s & GF80 / ISO400, f1.7, 1/320 sec / 80mm (MF).

Christian, this image certainly tells a story, a major requirement for PJD. The image itself is well-centered and your conversion to monochrome adds some dimension about past occurrences. Were the pictures part of the women's home and just images of her personal past, or was she in some kind of museum where those images were displayed? the reason I ask is that I visited the museum attached to the killing fields in Cambodia where the museum displayed such pictures of the one-inmates.   Posted: 04/01/2026 06:37:37

It's not really a museum, there are not such many visitors, its probably more a house of remembrance, but she was very proud to show the photos on the wall, her comrades like they used to say, the library was full of Ché, marxist manifest etc, a very interesting place and a real pleasure talking to them to know how and why they joined the Farc   Posted: 04/01/2026 11:56:01
