About the Image(s)
I took this on our cruise on the way to Brazil in January. I liked his facial features and while the main image here is in Colour, I have also provided a mono version. I would welcome comments or suggestions. Thank you.
I used a 40-150 f2.8 lens set 73mm (FF equivalent 146) 1/800 f2.8 ISO200.

I have mixed emotions between the color and mono. The mono does a better job with his slightly over exposed left leg, but the color really seeems to bring out his expression and the textures of his skinny arms and legs. He looks like a man who has worked hard for his living. In any case, you caught him well.   Posted: 10/07/2023 22:01:17
Adrian, I like both images and the way you captured the look of this man. However, I personally prefer the monochrome because it takes away the distraction of the color and help my eye to focus on the may eyes and activity. One question I have is concerning if this image would qualify for travel photography. It is a great street portrait, but I think it does contain elements that characterized the photo as taken on a specific location.
Great work regardless.

I also prefer the mono. It seems to focus my attention on the expression on his face his face which I think makes me wonder what he is focusing on so intently.   Posted: 10/23/2023 08:28:57
I also vote for the monochrome. It removes the distracting red and blue tones and allows one to concentrate on his face. I am a great fan of portraiture and this photo is a good example of it.

Thanks Nancy. I agree, portraits of characters are fun to seek out when travelling.   Posted: 10/30/2023 03:53:57
