About the Image(s)

The Pizzomunno is a imposing limestone monolith facing the town on Vieste, on the Gargano peninsua in Italy. There few legends associated with it. If you want to learn more about them here is a link.

Unfortunately, the area is very touristic and I wanted to capture the atmosphere of "waiting for the season" next to the beauty of nature.

Technical data: Fujifilm GFX100S, Fujinon GF45-100mm F4 R LM OIS WR @45mm, f/32, 0.4 sec, ISO 100. Image taken with the camera on a tripod.

Post processing: basic changes done including decreasing highlights and white, increased clarity and structure a slightly increase of clarity.

Michele - Waiting for the Season or Waiting for the Day to Start is the title for this. Yes a very touristy area and with all the touristy things in the foreground, they monopolise the image. It's a good image to support a story about man not caring about our natural wonders.

A very unique location that says a lot about the people and place. The route up the monolith, assuming that is what it is, says something about the people that lived here when it was cut. The chairs on the beach say something about the environment today. As I started to view sort of scrolling down I was assuming Asia somewhere, but the chairs made me think something else. I was still surprised that it was Italy, but certainly an only one place in the world spot. Capturing the chairs captured the way it is, but it tells us the story of the way it was.   Posted: 07/19/2024 11:23:24

Vinaya, Adrian and Stan, thank you very much for looking and commenting my image. I appreciate your input and comments. It is an interesting place and it can be photographed without the beach chairs. However, my intention was to provide what Adrian and Stan suggest. We are surrounded by beautiful natural wonders but too often for profit we are not good in just admire them.

Best wishes

Michele, Very good image and post-processing. Good idea to include the beach chairs. Given the negative reactions I received last month regarding my image of a Neolithic structure whose story and significance would have been unknown to most viewers, I was somewhat surprised that your image did not receive similar comments. I, for one, liked it very much for its mystery.   Posted: 07/30/2024 19:29:49
