About the Image(s)

Keeping on a Greenland theme from recent months, here is a view of the older part of a smallish town in south-east Greenland, Nanortalik. The name apparently means “land of the Polar Bear” - no more fortunately for the 1,200 people who live there. Like most Greenland towns, there are no roads going to neighbouring towns: all goods come and go by sea. We were impressed by the community spirit evidenced by a large turnout for awards being given to school children.

This was taken across a small bay. There is residual fog on the rear hill. For interest, I attach a different view with an iceberg in the foreground and the church with its reflection in a large puddle.

The main picture is an iPhone taken image, developed in Lightroom =, as is the church image, with the iceberg view was taken with my Olympus equipment.

Adrian very nice set of images. I think your images conveys an excellent idea of the place. It looks like the ice is disappearing there. Too bad.

Best wishes
