Pilgrims on the way to Saint Peters by Muthoni Ngatia

March 2025 - Pilgrims on the way to Saint Peters

About the Image(s)

The picture was taken in Feb 2024. These are pilgrims on the way to the Vatican, I think to go through the Holy Door for a jubilee year declared by the Catholic Church this year. Luckily it had just stopped raining. I liked this perspective since it looks like St Peters is drawing the pilgrims to the Church.

ISO 500, 25 mm, f 16, 1/200 sec Taken with an Olympus OM-2 with a 12-100mm f4 lens.

In this shot even the people add to the impact and story of the shot. Finding the puddle and using it shows creativity. Well done.   Posted: 03/22/2025 19:12:50

Muthoni,

I think your image is just right. You captured an "iconic" location with some creativity the f/16 aperture provides an excellent depth of field and reflections make this image unique. Well done

best wishes

The reflection just makes this PT image stand out! I would be tempted to just crop the right hand side a little to take out the part person in a grey coat.   Posted: 03/25/2025 06:39:50

Thank you, agreed about the person in grey, I think I would crop it for a print.   Posted: 03/30/2025 09:25:21

Muthoni - It took a Photographer to capture this so well! Well seen and your f16 indicates you thought about the depth of field issue. I assume your focus point was somewhere near the back of the puddle. It works VERY well!

I like how you have reflected building emerging from the bottom left corner (taking the eye directly in) and the right side has that feature too (interesting cropping suggestion from the very experienced David).

That's 2 interesting images out of 2! Look forward to next month!   Posted: 03/30/2025 08:58:12

Muthoni, I love puddle photography, and by including a perfect reflection, you have generated a satisfying, creative view of what could have been a boring view of an iconic structure. Well done!   Posted: 03/31/2025 01:21:56
