About the Image(s)

This is a pic of the MLK Jr memorial in DC during peak bloom of cherry blossom season. Looking back now, I'm surprised that I didn't get much camera shake given the settings I used. I like how the MLK Jr's profile is framed by cherry blossom blooms.

I'm also attaching another shot of the Washington monument at sunrise during peak bloom.

Muthoni, well done in framing MLK with the cherry blossoms. The second image is an iconic view of the basin and the cherry trees in blossom.   Posted: 04/01/2025 11:00:10

Both images r good. 1st one, frame in frame! Different composition, liked it.

I wish the flowers should have been different colour than statue colour. then pic would have been beautiful multi fold, any way....   Posted: 04/08/2025 03:12:03

Muthoni - that's 3 from 3 strong image!

I think your main image is the stronger of the two (supplementary one is more traditional). I like the lack of colour contrast here and suggest you look at making it square to concentrate the view to the centre monument. I don't think the sides add anything. The lack of blue sky helps I think.   Posted: 04/18/2025 09:54:22

Muthoni, this is a wonderful image. Photographing statues or painting usually, is difficult because it becomes pretty much reproducing the work of others. However, you have done an excellent work with the framing and the cherry blossom. I heard that now is difficult to photograph the cherry blossom in DC because there are thousands of people. You were able to find a good one.

Well done

Muthoni, MLK is framed perfectly by the cherry blossoms. Excellent job of making an unusual image of both the cherry blossoms and the statue. I wish there had been more color differentiation between the cherry blossoms and the statue, but it is what it is. The colors work better in your supplemental image, although it is a more conventional view.

So you live in DC. So do I. Maybe we can go out and shoot together some time.   Posted: 04/27/2025 18:51:19
