This picture of the stunning, iconic White Temple (HSinbyume Pagoda) in Mingun, Myanmar was taken in 2017. This site is about 10 km northwest of Mandalay, which was the epicenter of the recent devastating earthquake. Sadly, most of this structure collapsed, reducing it to rubble. The earthquake was horrific, on top of the chaos brought about by the coup by the military regime.
The three auxiliary pictures could be taken to represent citizens of Myanmar praying for their country, but they were actually taken well before this recent earthquake. Nevertheless, these portraits seemed to complement the story.

Nancy, your decision to field these images after the horrific earthquake reminds us of the terrible natural disaster on top of the actions of the military. I feel so sorry for the lovely people who are being "attacked" from all sides.
The White Temple is (was 🥲) an amazing building. I suppose under the circumstances, it won't be rebuilt. Your close-ups (particularly 2 and 3) are beautiful atmospheric images.

Nancy, your images are outstanding. In particular, the image of the temple and the story about is collapse, reminds us that at the end Mother Nature is winning all time, no matter what we do. The story of the earthquake is terrible, but we need to remind to ourselves that the current regimen there did something even worse: bombing the survivors and impeding the helps to get there. The other sad side of the story, is that this has already disappear from the news. We live in a society where everything last 2-3 days before it get completely forgotten. The other images are also excellent captures and conveys emotions.
