Globe of Trinity Library by Stan Bormann, FPSA, MPSA

July 2026 - Globe of Trinity Library

About the Image(s)

Trinity Library was our first photography objective when we reached Dublin in Ireland and we were disappointed in the crowds and that they had placed his huge globe in the historic main hall of the library. Most of the books were out for copying in case of fire or some destruction. Disapointing, but the globe did make an interesting shot.

Taken with an iPhone 14 Pro at 1/25 sec, f/1.8, ISO 500, 24mm (1X)

Stan, welcome to the world of "overcrowded tourism"... I guess this is becoming very common for most of the popular location if they have been posted on Tik Tok or Instagram...
Saying that, while I understand your disappointment for seeing this globe in the famous Trinity Library, I have to say I really like your image. And to me this tells a story, more of what would be the usual image of library with books on the shelves. I guess you did some straightening corrections. However, I feel know the image give the impression the lower part is more narrow of the top.

Best wishes

Totally different image, Stan! I found perspective perfect, the entire image is sharp in focus & the blue globe at wooden b/g looks great   Posted: 07/11/2026 07:39:03

Stan - yes tourists are everywhere! Certainly frustrating if one may only be at a place once ever. The library certainly looks an impressive historical place - I will research that later. I often wonder about cutting off the many tourists as you have done - I just don't think we can win re that. But you have given us an image which concentrates on the large modern globe and enough of the room with clearly substantial height and age - as such, the image works.   Posted: 07/11/2026 10:28:09
