When I visited Turkey, the only place you could take a balloon ride was in Cappadocia, but apparently since I visited a number of years ago, other cities have gotten into the act. I'm wondering if your image was taken after the sun was up instead of rising, as the colors reflect the daylight colors rather than the oranges of the rising sun. Regardless, you took the image at the widest angle you had (24mm) and it gave you a long depth-of-field, adding scale to your image. Balloon rides can benefit from wide-angle lenses, which you may not have had, but I must say that's 20-20 hindsight. Mandy, hot air balloon's ride is a lot of fun anywhere. We had the experience in Africa, wher the backdrop is completely different and only with five other ballon's. Your description is the same feeling I had debating between takin pictures o enjoying the view. I was able to do both, and I had two cameras with me: 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm. Your image shows a great number of ballon's of different colors which blends very nicely with the backdrop. The balloon ride was at Göreme, a small area of Cappadocia. I have 24-70 and 17-35 with me. I thought that 17mm was a bit wide for detail, hence, I mostly used 24-70.
The photo was taken right after sunrise on the opposite side.
I would say I didn't enjoy the ride as I should have. Almost wanted to go back and ride again.   Posted: 04/07/2024 21:06:17
