About the Image(s)

Title: Japanese Odori Dance
Time: 4/18/2025, Place: Taipei, Taiwan
Description:

The piece recounts my experience attending the Awa Odori dance festival, which took place in Taiwan on April 18, 2025.
This vibrant cultural event featured around one hundred Awa Odori dance troupes from Tokyo, Japan, bringing to life the spirited traditions of Japanese folk dance. The festival not only illuminated the beauty and energy of Awa Odori but also celebrated the enduring cultural connection between Japan and Taiwan.

Pamela, you take a lot of action shots of festivals and parades. This one, take at night captures the mood of the dance. The blur of the background spectators adds to the image, focusing attention on the dancers. I suppose positioning under circumstances such as this can't be helped, but your shot captures a move of the dance.   Posted: 05/01/2025 14:48:54

Pamela, you probably guessed that I would suggest cropping the image because of the gap in the scene on the left and the performers on the left being cut into by the edge of the picture. I'm a bit ambivalent about cropping it on the bottom too because the shoe of the main dancer is right on the edge. It's a wonderful scene other wise.   Posted: 05/03/2025 13:16:04
