There’s something different about Vietnam’s tallest Buddha statue. It isn't your typical male Buddha effigy—this enormous structure depicts a woman.
Buddhists the world over have built plenty of tall statues of Buddha. But "Buddha" does not just mean the man born Siddhartha Gautama. "Buddha" also means "Enlightened One," and there's no reason why a great sage can't be a woman.
The Linh Ung Pagoda, just outside Da Nang, Vietnam, decided to build the world’s largest statue of an indisputably feminine Buddha. The resulting Lady Buddha towers 220 feet (67 meters) tall and is perched atop of a lotus-shaped temple.
The statue has 17 floors, with each floor dedicated to a different Buddha. Though the multi-level trek is tough, it’s worth it for the spectacular views of the city.
The image was created with a Nikon D850 with the Nikkor zoom lens 28-300 mm f/3.5-5.6 @ 32 mm and these settings: ISO 320, f/10 and 1/800 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom and cropped.

Buddhas are good subjects for images, and yours is no exception. The Buddha's shape showing the details of the statue. clearly, you created the image shooting up but it almost looks like it was shot straight on. Good technique. My only criticism is that the white of the statue doesn't make it stand out from the cloudy day of the sky, but I suppose you didn't have control over that. You created the image when you were there, and those were the conditions when you were there. I'm impressed by the clarity of the image, even to the detail of the small leaves on the trees.   Posted: 05/01/2025 14:58:28

Isaac, it looks like you intentionally cut into the people on the left or you cropped the image accordingly. Those people show the scale of the statue and I feel they should not have been cropped into.   Posted: 05/03/2025 13:19:12

Tom, they are not cropped, but just touching the edge of the frame...   Posted: 05/03/2025 15:28:30
