Procession in Cuetzalan, Mexico

People of Mexico celebrate many festivals throughout the year. Especially in rural areas, they are fervently religious, and individual towns commemorate their patron saint with processions. Women dress in their traditional outfits and carry decorated candles. I photographed this procession in the town of Cuetzalan in the state of Puebla in October 2022.

The image captures the essence of the procession even to smoke in the background. the presence of the rest of the on-lookers in the background adds to the festivities, despite the fact that some of the tourists in the background seem to be focused on something else.   Posted: 06/01/2026 06:36:36
