Mil Polleras festival in Panama

On the second Saturday in January, the small town of Las Tablas celebrates a festival and parade that in English is called “Parade of Thousand Skirts.” All afternoon and well into the night, several thousand women in beautiful handmade silk and cotton skirts and blouses sashay down the main street to the tune of local music provided by live bands or giant speakers on trucks that are included in the parade. The women also wear lots of gold jewelry and everyone is having a good time.

The sunlight was bright and direct. I worked hard to open the shadow in the eyes but was only partlially successful.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You have a great shot as it stands. Your choice of settings gave you the depth-of-field you likely wanted in a well-centered image where the colors are bold and the centering good. If the lighting was not as good as you wanted it, one would never know from your image.   Posted: 09/01/2026 11:54:41
