While in grade school, I made pinhole camera and have been hooked ever since. After graduating from Michigan, I purchased a used Canon F1. I began shooting in black and white and soon set up a darkroom. I finished my MBA from the University of Cincinnati and work consumed much of my time for years.

About 2000 the digital world lured me in and I subsequently tried a variety of cameras and processing programs. My Chemical Engineering background lends itself to a process orientation. I have essentially learned photography by trial and error.

My work enabled me to travel much of the United States and parts of the world. My photography was a means to share my experiences with family and friends.

I am open to learning about any aspect of photography. When I take photos, I look for good light and try to find pleasing compositions. I am an avid Lightroom Classic user with plug ins like DXO and Topaz.

I look forward to learning about you and your photography.

Robert Klein

I have been fascinated with photography since childhood. As a boy, I watched my older brother, John, create images in a makeshift darkroom, our bathroom. During my first year of college at the University of Pennsylvania, I bought a Pentax K500 single-lens reflex camera and started shooting. In 1974, I attended a course at C.J. Pressma’s Center for Photographic Studies in Louisville, and that’s when I got excited about photography. Back at school, I joined the staff of The Daily Pennsylvanian and eventually became one of the photo editors. Many a night was spent in the DP darkroom.

For many years, other goals and challenges kept me away from photography. I attended law school at the University of Louisville, pursued a career as a lawyer, served as President of The Temple, and was a father to a growing family of five children. My keen interest in photography, however, has persisted though these major life events.

I'm 53 and live in Southern California, married to a retired trucker so he drives and I take pictures along the way. I was medically retired from the US Army in 2009. My interest in photography has blossomed since it is an excuse for something to keep me active on our trips to escape the heat in the summer. On our trips I also write a blog about how even if a person has something holding them back they can still travel and enjoy nature. I have been dealing with multiple sclerosis for over 10 years. I use a canon 80D and have mostly focused on nature photography this past year my husband has helped stretch my horizons with framing and composing landscapes. I am looking forward to sharing and learning from the group.
