Nice heron portrait. I would probably crop out a lot of the reeds because they distract from the birds. Crop so that there was more room in front of the bird in the direction it is looking. I would also lighten the bird so it stands out more.   Posted: 04/13/2026 00:55:10

Really nice light, and it shows how the heron blends in with the background. I agree with Debbie's comments. I used "generative fill" to add some space in front of the bird - not allowed for competition, but if you have the space in your original capture this just illustrates how it's more comfortable to view an image when the subject has some space to look/move into.

I agree completely with the comments above. If you don't have the space then perhaps cropping from the right might help as well as from the top.   Posted: 04/15/2026 10:49:12
