Hi, I'm born and brought up in Kerala, India, popularly known as God's own country! A structural engineer by profession and a photographer by passion. After my post graduation in structural engineering I worked in India, Malaysia , UAE and now for the last 15 years working in Qatar.

I started my photography journey with a borrowed Yashica Point & Shoot film Camera just to capture the moments and document the places that I used to travel. Although during the early few years of mine, neither I knew nor I paid attention to artistic perspectives such as composition and light, thus, wasted many years of my life just clicking generic documentary shots. However, as I came in contact with a few eminent photographers across the world through social media and photography portals such as Flickr, 500px, I was amazed by the images they have created. That spiked an ignition within me to learn how can I too create such images. I started joining local workshops and watching YouTube videos to nurture myself and finally to calm down and think through the composition and various angles before pressing the shutter while on spot. I am more into wildlife though I like other streams too such as astro and street photography.

During this journey of mine, I gradually upgraded my gears from Nikon D40x to D500 and finally D4. Mirrorless camera will be the ultimate aim. However I am fully satisfied with my current gears.

Hi, I participate in both the Creative Group 41 and this group, Birding Group 1. I'm a retired software developer trying to become proficient in Birding photography. I'm the PSA coordinator for my camera club and enjoy choosing the images used in the Nature Category. I mainly use a Nikon D-500 with a Nikon 500 f5.6 Prime lens with the occasional Fuji T3 and the 100-400mm Fuji lens. I live in Western NY and have many opportunities to shoot Herons and Egrets mainly.
Looking forward to sharing my images with the group.

I consider myself an intermediate level photographer. If it moves or if it doesn't I shoot it. I especially like to photograph birds and wildlife as well as cityscapes and landscapes. I am currently using Nikon Z9 and D500 cameras. I have an assortment of lenses from 15mm fisheye to a 150 to 600 telephoto.
I am active in several local camera clubs as well as teaching a photography course at Northwestern Universities adult continuing education class.
I primarily use Lightroom and Photoshop for editing and play with Nik, DXO, Topaz and Luminar software.

Most of my photography career was centered on fashion and portrait photography. In retirement, I have developed an interest in nature photography, particularly wildlife. I live in the Pacific Northwest so I have fairly good access to nature photography opportunities. I am not very competition oriented but I certainly appreciate critique and feedback. The rules for the Nature Division are more in tune with my approach to wildlife than some camera clubs I have been a member of. Reality seemed to take a back seat too often. I am sure that I have much to learn about what is allowed in post processing but I expect I can meet the criteria for many of my photos.

Photography is connection. With myself, with others, with nature and the infinite possibilities of the human experience. Photographing animals in their habitat shows life as it is. It combines my passion for adventures, nature and behavior. I look for movement and portraits of animals, as if they were in a natural studio. Through photography, I shape my artist soul, curiosity and the search for knowledge and my adventurous spirit.

Allen Kurth

I’m an advanced amateur photographer. Now that I’m retired I have more time for photography. I moved to Nebraska 35 years ago as a single parent and wasn’t sure what I would photograph here. I had no interest in photographing birds. I had never seen an eagle in the wild and was excited to find that a pair were nesting here for the first time. I was determined to get a good photo and soon found that none of my gear was adequate for eagle photos. I was hooked.
Nebraska has proven to be a good location for bird photography. Many birds migrate through in the spring and fall. Sandhill cranes make Nebraska a stopping point on their journey north. I’ve spent a couple of days shooting prairie chickens every spring. I live close to one of the only woodlands in Nebraska.
I shoot with Sony mirrorless cameras and do nearly all my bird photography with a telephoto lens. I shoot everything in raw and use a PC with Photoshop and Lightroom for processing. I want to participate in some competition and think that PSA could help me with that.
