These Egrets were taken at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge with a Fuji X-H2s and a Fuji 500mm 5.6 Prime at 5.6, ISO 1000, 1/2000th sec. Some editing done in LR.

Tom, I like the egret poses but they are awfully hard to see. I know your talent in monochrome, so I know you see what I mean. I would definitely work on the contrast, and possibly flip it horizontally.

I really like the texture/feathers in the image. It is so easy to blow out the highlights in these egret shots. You have a perfect exposure. the pose is great, perfect timing when one of the birds is just ready top take off.

Personally, i do not like the overlap between the birds. I would also have a bit more space on the right to highlight the directionality of motion.   Posted: 06/15/2026 12:13:47
