Nice story of a hawk just going about their normal chores. It would be nice to see a little more detail on the underside of the far wing but it is certainly good as presented. It looks like the near wing may be a little sharper than the head and heye but this may just be the reduced file size.   Posted: 09/07/2024 20:17:54

Excellent detail here and the capture of it with the nesting materials produces a nice story. Nice use of space in front of the subject - did you capture any images with it's wings on the upswing?   Posted: 09/08/2024 21:51:51

No, the bird was passed by the time the wings were in the up position. Thanks for the comments.   Posted: 09/16/2024 22:12:30

Hi, Howard!

This image has some strengths and weaknesses. For me, what I like:

--It's a bird I don't recognize, which increases my interest.
--The nest material is clear in the iamge, we know exactly what's going on.
--The bird is very sharp and stands out against the BG very clearly. To me, it doesn't matter that the eye isn't quite as sharp as the wing - it's planty sharp enough.

A few weakness:
--It is flying away from the viewer. We can at least see the eye, but images where the subject is moving away from the camera need something really strong to make up for that fact.
--The plain gray sky is really boring. Obviously for ND you can't sub a different sky, but this one doesn't help your shot.

I do believe you will get acceptances but it may take a few tries to "finish" it.
