I am wondering what your settings were. I wish your camera would have been able to freeze the wing actions better. This can happen with a faster shutter speed

A few things work for this image. I like how the foliage cradles the bird and directs the eye to it. The bird itself is bright and colorful and fun to look at. The flirtatious glance back makes for a pleasing body position.
That said, the camera obviously locked in on the foliage rather than the bird. The wings are neither frozen nor deliberately blurred. There is a second, OOF bird on the right that does nothing for the shot. The image is not competitive, but I understand why it appeals to you.
