This image was taken in the Masai Mara in October. This male lion and his 3 brothers had trapped and killed a hippo that was trapped in the ditch in front of him. He was getting frustrated trying to get a slab of meat from it through its tough hide. He seemed to have had a tough life. Taken with my Nikon Z 8 and 100 to 400 lens at f 8, 1/2000 sec and ISO 6400 as it was starting to get dark. Processed with Lightroom and DSO Pure Raw.

You have captured the life history of the lion. The lower right hand corner is a distraction to me. I am wondering if you could crop that area out. Is there something you can be done with the grass? It seems flat. Posted: 01/16/2026 19:01:35
