June 2026 - Barred Owl
About the Image(s)
This barred owl has been a popular visitor to our local nature preserve although he rarely shows himself. The OOF branches are a bit distracting but they were part of the scene so they stay.

Difficult capture of an elusive bird! Nice job on the selective focus and optimal exposure on the bird.
I'm afraid that the near branches and distant bright glints work against you. I wonder if you can locate the nest and time your visits to the zone around fledging to maximize your chances of getting them flying in an out around dusk or dawn?

Bird is nice and sharp. I agree with Lillians comments. You might try removing the branch cutting in front and entering it in a general category.   Posted: 06/15/2026 16:16:27
