Buff Necked Ibis Mating by Lillian Roberts, APSA, GMPSA/B

October 2025 - Buff Necked Ibis Mating

About the Image(s)

On my recent trip to Brazil's Pantanal, I went wandering on the grounds of our lodge. These birds are quite vocal so they tend to be easy to spot, though usually quite high up so there is a steep angle.

One trick observing bird species - for many species, if you see them allopreening (grooming each other) this is often the avian version of foreplay. Be patient, you get about 30 seconds of the kind of image that nature judges often score high. This one has not yet been scored - I have a few in the series - but I expect it to gain acceptances.

Excellent birds!
I just image if there was no clutter of leaves around bird then it would have made outstanding image. But not in our control in this case.   Posted: 10/10/2025 21:04:31
