This is over Hood Canal in Washington State. A conservation group has purchased the tidelands and only allows access above the high water mark. This leaves the eagles free to hunt the tide pools. This successful eagle managed to get his fish but then had to do so fancy flying to keep it.
Nikon Z9 with 400 TC 2.8 lens using the internal TC
560 mm, 1/2500 sec., f/4.0, ISO 450, matrix metered.
The eagles stay quite a way out so this is cropped in a lot. I used DxO to denoise the image and Topaz to do some sharpening. No other significant edits.

Nice capture, Bird behind little bit distracts, how about only front bird in view, may be that is how you got it when cliked !! sometimes these things are not in our control. Posted: 11/09/2025 00:11:52
