About the Image(s)

“06-A Dunk Gets the Crowd Roaring”
Why I took this image:
Description: At Penn State this year we had a men’s basketball player whose real middle name was Konan. At first, I thought it was just a nickname he had chosen. Anyhow he was a little over seven feet and one of his favorite plays was a crowd pleasing dunk, which you see here.

Camera Settings: Creation Date: 11/08/2024 Camera: Canon, Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D, Mk II, Shutter Speed: 1/3200, Aperture f/1.4, ISO 1600, Canon *%mm F 1.2 lens @ 85 mm

Post processing:, Normal LR adjustments and straightening. Sharpening and denoise using Topaz Photo AI. Conversion to Black and White using Silver Efex Pro

Nice action. Perhaps he will be drafted into the NBA, and you will have a photo of his college days. At 7' he has a good chance.
If you could straighten the floor, that would be my only quibble. The floor appears to tilt up.   Posted: 06/21/2025 21:10:33

Hi John. A fine capture of a dunk shot, why B&W? I had some time trying to find the ball due to the lack of contrast between the ball and the background bench players in white. A colour version would be far better as contrast would differentiate the ball from players. The tilt is also not quite right as Karen says. I'm sure a colour photo would do far greater justice to this well timed capture.   Posted: 06/22/2025 19:26:24

The color version show too much detail for the crowd. I understand what you say about losing detail on the basketball. I think its about a 50-50 choice.   Posted: 06/22/2025 20:08:40
