Rugby has not been on my photographic agenda for several years, my local Rugby Club Eltham was devastated by covid and since that time has not been able to field a senior team. Tackle low was taken in 2021 their last year in Melbournes B Division. Here you can see a classic low tackle right from the coaching manual this is how a smaller player can bring a larger player to a complete standstill.

The photo has many background figures but for most photos of this type showing two players virtually unavoidable.


Pentax K-S2, Sigma 70-300mm . F5.6, shot at 200 mm, 1600/1, ISO 1250. Processing Photoshop Auto and considerable fine tuning of all sliders as the original RAW file was very hazy. After this session I sold the lens, nearly all photos came out with a hazy look. Sometimes buying bargain price lenses at weekend markets is not worth the trouble.
